When JJ Newman Rode asked about how long it takes for a result, Dr. Lin told her, “It depends.  Our virus isolation protocol is on the conservative side.  We will grow the fish samples in the cell cultures for 4 weeks before calling it negative.  Of course, if the viruses show up in one, two, or three weeks, positive results will be determined in one, two, or three weeks accordingly.  OIE Manual requires a 7 to 10-day primary culture and 7-day subculture, approximately three weeks to declare negative results.”

Pricing:  Virus testing for a 60-fish “lot” = $151 in-state; $302 out-of-state
