As of Decmber1, 1980, the United States Supreme Court
ordered the maximum flow rate of Lake Michigan waters through the Chicago
Sanitary and Ship Canal to be set at 2 billion gallons per day. Fish
Health issues not only affect the Great Lakes Basin, but also much of the
Mississippi Drainage Basin.
